#GivingTuesday for Mpindo, they need your help.
The Mpindo community acted when they needed to, by calling us to retrieve this pack, which had denned and ate their goats. Through their action they saved eight pups and two adult painted dogs lives.
Today is #GivingTuesday, we implore you to remember the Mpindo pups.

Help us raise USD$4000 today #GivingTuesday for the Mpindo Primary School children to come to our Iganyana Childrenβs Bush Camp for a full four-day camp next year.
The Impact of our camp in raising an environmentally conscious future generation is well documented and regarded. Our Childrenβs Bush Camp is 15 years old, it has changed the lives of more than 12,000 children, but only a third of these children are now adults and taking up active roles in society where they can influence change.
With your support, the children from Mpindo village will help widen that circle of influence and save more painted dogs in the process.
Painted dogs are endangered and need your support. Every act, big or small, to save painted dogs makes a big difference.

Thank you camp for Mpindo! We can do more...
We recently had the honour to host Mpindo Primary School grade 6 kids and Ngqabutho Moyo from Mpindo village. This is the community where the Mpindo pack had denned earlier this year before we brought it to our Rehabilitation Facility.

We recently had the honour to host Mpindo Primary School grade 6 kids and Ngqabutho Moyo from Mpindo village. This is the community where the Mpindo pack had denned earlier this year before we brought it to our Rehabilitation Facility.

Moyo, on the other had, is the community member who discovered and defended the den from angry villagers until our executive director Peter Blinston and team came to relocate the dogs and their pups that were barely 3 weeks old.
The school and heroic Moyo came for a short 2-day thank you camp at the Iganyana Childrenβs Bush Camp.
You can tell with the smiles on their faces (below), they are excited to be coming to visit PDC, experience the bush camp and see the painted dogs they helped save. Itβs nothing that will easily fade away from their minds. They will share and encourage others to have a positive attitude towards wildlife. Therefore creating an environment where painted dogs and other wildlife can not only survive but thrive.
Happy faces, natural custodians of the wildlife we love and cherish
This school, however, is not part of the 19 local schools that come every year to our Childrenβs Bush Camp. But after their communityβs tolerance when painted dogs had devoured their livestock, it is our wish to include this school to be the 20th in our list so as to encourage them to continue the positive behaviour.
PDC Rehabilitation Facility: Mpindo Pack
We have taken many painted dogs in hopeless situations into the facility and successfully cared for them and released them back into the wild, such as Vusile, and they lived very meaningful lives after.
Our Rehabilitation Facility was established in October 2002 to cater for any eventualities concerning the sick or injured painted dogs, to house orphaned and compromised individuals and packs. Our firm belief in taking action and the importance we place on every individual could not have been easier realised without the facility.

Grown and Alert: Mpindo Pack pups
This time around itβs the Mpindo Pack. Threatened with fatal harm and/or death by angry villagers who had lost their goats to the pack since it had denned in a communal land, there was no other safer place for the two painted dogs and their 3 weeks old pups. We brought the pack into a new home, our Rehabilitation Facility. Today the pups are growing and healthy. They will be released back into the wild where they belong in early December. A time when we believe they will have a better chance of survival. Watch the space for more updates.

In meantime please join John Lemon, the man who built the Rehabilitation Facility, as he hosts our Executive Director Peter Blinston and Senior Tracker Jealous Mpofu for a fundraising dinner dubbed An Evening of Art and Conservation in Fremantle, Perth on the 10th November.
